I will keep this short because I am cuddled up in bed, resting and getting ready to watch The Big Bang Theory with my family.
I will start with my bad news -- I have the flu! The is the first time in as long as I can remember getting sick like this. I struggle with my sinuses like the rest of Houstonians, once or twice a year, but other than the congestion, it does not affect my ability to work or train or live life in general. I have been varying levels of miserable since Sunday night. The kicker is that I get a flu shot every year without fail, but I just didn't get around to it this winter. So, my PSA -- get your flu shot!
The good news is that I feel much better about my ride last Sunday now. My misery on the bike was probably in large part due to my coming down with the flu.
In more bad news, I was supposed to get 13 hours of training this week and all I have been able to manage is 1:45 of very easy spinning on the trainer. I am going to see how I feel over the next several days, but at best will get a bit more easy trainer time in. I have never had to miss significant training volume like this in a given week, but ...
In more good news, it is just one week. With IMTX just 100 days away, I have just enough time to build and peak without letting this illness set me back.
Here is to getting healthy ... and don't forget to get your flu shot!

Get Healthy Soon!!! :)
We are in the some boat Anne - I am FINALLY feeling better and hope to get a big weekend in.
When I get back home I'll send you an email of a schedule for a bunch of supported group rides on the IMTX course. If I forget remind me because they look awesome.
Anne, that sucks you're sick. My wife has been feeling pretty badly this week too. I hope you get better soon and back to training. Good luck as you look towards IMTX!
MATT
Feel better soon!! SUCKS to be sick.
Hope that feel better soon!
Got the shot - I hope you feel better soon!
You need to get well and then rock that IM. I feel you on riding your bike with the flu. I've done this once in college and I wasn't a strong rider anyways. Actually 2 stupid things back to back. One mountain ride and I had to literally get pushed the last 10 miles back to campus and then the next weekend thought I could do a Century little did I know it was a training ride for Assault on Mount Mitchell. We all make stupid mistakes it's about recognizing them, not beating yourself up over them and learning from them. All of which you are doing.
Rest and get well and you can do it!!!
Awwww, I can completely empathize.... I got bronchitis around Christmast that put me out for a few weeks. At least it still a ways out from IMTX and you'll have plenty of time to build. Plus, you have such a great base, you will bounce back just fine.
Feel better soon!
Hope you feel better soon!! don't worry about IMTX you have the base miles, you'll be fine! :D
You'll be fine, Annie!!!
xoxoxox
Ugh! I hope you feel better soon!! Also, trust your coach (she's a good one)...
:( Hugs... hope you feel better soon!
Anne, that stinks. I know everyone says the same thing, but don't worry about the hours—your fitness is THERE!
Just take time to get better.
By the way, in all my 38 years, I have never once gotten the flu shot. I think I am just sort of superstitious about those sort of things, or idiotic.
Get better soon!
Get healthy. I know you will be awesome when race day comes!
You've got plenty of time to get back in the swing of things. Kick those feet up and get healthy ASAP!
Lots of my peeps are getting sick right now. Luckily, I just hide out and avoid people...
